Love lives on

Love lives on
We find a place for what we lose. Although we know that after such a loss the acute stage of mourning will subside, we also know that a part of us shall remain inconsolable and never find a substitute. No matter what may fill the gap, even if it is completely filled, it will nevertheless remain something changed forever...

Sigmund Freud (1856 - 1939)

My mother died on April 4th, 2013 at 87 years too young. She was vibrant, alert, and not thinking about dying. Nor did we have a real grasp at what laid ahead in those short 48 hours. While she was 87, you wouldn't know it - as many would say she was one of those people you didn't think would ever die.

This blog is my journey through that grief - the reality she really did die - and through art, sewing, doll making, words and silence, I hope to give myself comfort as well as others who have lost something huge in their lives. I suspect I will learn many things too in the coming months and have many memories and epiphanies.

"Now comes the mystery."
